The Joffe Charitable Trust

Joel Joffe
12 May 1932 to 18 June 2017

We are very sorry to announce that Joel Joffe died peacefully at home on 18th June 2017 after a short illness.

He was a friend, inspiration and support to many fighting poverty and injustice. The Joffe Charitable Trust will continue to work for these goals.

Joel's family expect to announce a memorial event later in the year.

The Joffe Charitable Trust (set up by Joel and Vanetta Joffe in 1968) supports development in the developing world, primarily in anglophone sub Saharan Africa.

The Trustees recognise that there is much need and significant poverty in the United Kingdom but they believe that there is even greater need in the developing world, and because of that and in order to be effective it is necessary to focus narrowly.

From time to time, the trustees will review the Trust's funding policy. Any changes will be posted on this website. The most recent changes were made in 2017.

Our annual accounts can be accessed here.

The trustees are:

  • Alex Jacobs (Chair)
  • Vanetta Joffe
  • Mark Poston
  • Myles Wickstead
  • Deborah Joffe
  • Barbara Frost

The Trust Manager is: Carin Lake.
